Arklow CBS welcomes German exchange students

Picture2.jpg

Arklow CBS along with St. Mary’s College were delighted to welcome the students and teachers from St. Ursula Schule, Würzburg this week on the return leg of the exchange.

Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to not only expand their linguistic skills as they attended the various classes in Arklow CBS but also to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of Ireland. From exploring the historical depths of Arklow on a captivating walking tour with Mr. Jim Rees to gaining insight into Ireland's ancient past at the monastic site of Glendalough, every moment was a chance for discovery and growth.

The group had the opportunity to explore the streets of our capital city Dublin on a guided walking tour, where they discovered the city’s history and contemporary vibrancy.

We're especially thankful for the warm welcome extended to our visiting students, who had the chance to experience Ireland's native games of Gaelic football and hurling—a unique opportunity that added an extra layer of cultural exchange to the program. A big thank you also to Arklow Municipal District Council who held a reception for the visitors.

We are extremely grateful for the incredible contributions of the students, host families, schools, guides and teachers involved. Their dedication and enthusiasm made this experience truly memorable. A big word of thanks to Ms. Battye for organising the exchange.

The excitement was palpable as the students of TY embarked on their highly anticipated outing to Zero Latency Dublin this week. The students arrived at the cutting-edge virtual reality gaming centre, ready to dive into an adventure like no other. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the immersive escape rooms, where teams worked together to solve puzzles, unravel mysteries, and beat the clock. Adrenaline surged as they navigated through intricate challenges, relying on communication and quick thinking to emerge victorious. Beyond the escape rooms, the students also indulged in an array of exhilarating VR games, from heart-pounding shooters to mind-bending simulations. A great day of gaming was had by all and a special word of thanks to Mr. Heelan for organising.
