5th and 6th Year Art students enjoyed an art-packed educational trip to Dublin on Wednesday!
We visited public sculptures, including the Famine Memorial Sculpture, The Children of Lir in the Garden of Remembrance, and the ground-breaking public art sculpture The Portal.
Following that, we had a guided tour of La Grande Illusion, an exhibition by one of Ireland’s leading artists, Brian Maguire. His works address marginalized communities in society, creating expressive paintings that command attention. To our great surprise, we even had the chance to meet and chat with the artist himself!
Also in the Hugh Lane Gallery, students were amazed to see Francis Bacon’s studio.
Next, we visited the National Museum, where students got to see Bronze and Iron Age artifacts they had been studying in class.
After walking over 16,000 steps, students were ready to relax on the train journey home. Well done to our amazing art students, who were a credit to the school, and a special thanks to Majella for accompanying us on the journey!
